About Ubiquiti
At Ubiquiti Inc., we create technology platforms for Businesses, Smart Homes, and Internet Service Providers, driven by our goal to connect everyone, everywhere. To date, Ubiquiti has shipped over 100 million devices worldwide, from ISP networking products to next generation of IT solutions. Our growth is made possible by the dedicated team of hundreds behind the scenes. From software developers and product managers to designers and strategists, Team UI is driven to achieve our common goal: Rethinking IT. At Ubiquiti, you’ll heighten your potential and broaden your horizons - all while shaping the future of connectivity.
Role Summary
This role is mainly working on the continuous expansion of our USL/UC product portfolios — covering IoT / light switch / AC-side smart devices, IoT sensors, and UC display platforms.
You will independently drive products from design to mass production, owning board-level design, certification, and EMS/ODM technical execution.
You will serve as our dedicated technical window with manufacturing partners to resolve issues efficiently across the full EVT → DVT → PVT → MP cycle.
- AC-Side Product Design: Hands-on experience designing smart relays, light switches, dimmers, or smart plugs — including live/neutral line handling, isolation design, and creepage/clearance compliance.
- Define power architecture and conduct battery life estimation for primary lithium (CR series) and rechargeable Li-ion applications.
- Drive low-power optimization through µA-level current measurement, sleep / wake-up strategy design, and power budget planning.
- Design and review PMIC, charger IC, and battery protection circuits to ensure product safety and reliability.
- Integrate wireless connectivity solutions (BLE, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, or Sub-GHz) into product designs, including SI and antenna tuning.
- Lead EMC / ESD debug and bring products through regulatory certification independently.
- Serve as the dedicated technical interface with EMS / ODM partners for NPI, mass production ramp-up, and ongoing yield improvement.
- Partner with firmware, mechanical, QA, and PM teams to deliver products that meet design, schedule, and quality targets.
- Mentor junior engineers and share best practices on low-power design, battery products, and factory-side execution.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
- 10+ years of hands-on hardware design experience in consumer electronics or IoT products.
- Proven experience with battery-powered portable products, including both CR primary discharge and Li-ion applications.
- Solid expertise in low-power design, including µA-level current measurement and battery life estimation.
- Strong proficiency in PMIC, charger IC, and battery protection circuit design.
- Hands-on experience with at least one wireless protocol (BLE, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, or Sub-GHz).
- Hands-on EMC / ESD debug experience, with the ability to lead products through certification independently.
- Practical experience collaborating with EMS / ODM factories, including NPI, mass production, and yield improvement.
- Familiarity with IoT, lighting, or other control-related designs (basic understanding of AC circuits is sufficient).
- Strong cross-functional communication skills with firmware, mechanical, QA, and PM teams.
- AC-Side Product Design: Hands-on experience designing smart relays, light switches, dimmers, or smart plugs — including live/neutral line handling, isolation design, and creepage/clearance compliance.
- Tablet & Smartphone Hardware: Board-level design experience covering display interfaces, touch panels, and battery systems — directly applicable to our UC display product roadmap.
- IoT Sensor Design: Proven track record designing PIR, door/window contact, temperature/humidity, or motion detection modules for IoT applications.
- ESD / Surge / EMC Debug: Direct, hands-on experience diagnosing and resolving pre-compliance or certification failures — not just familiarity with the standards.
- RF & Wireless IoT: Solid understanding of at least one wireless protocol (Wi-Fi, BLE, Zigbee, Z-Wave, or Sub-GHz), including antenna placement rules, RF layout guidelines, and co-existence handling.
- ODM/EMS Factory Collaboration: Practical experience managing NPI deliverables and resolving technical issues with manufacturing partners across the full EVT → DVT → PVT → MP cycle.
