About Ubiquiti
At Ubiquiti Inc., we create technology platforms for Businesses, Smart Homes, and Internet Service Providers, driven by our goal to connect everyone, everywhere. To date, Ubiquiti has shipped over 100 million devices worldwide, from ISP networking products to next generation of IT solutions. Our growth is made possible by the dedicated team of hundreds behind the scenes. From software developers and product managers to designers and strategists, Team UI is driven to achieve our common goal: Rethinking IT. At Ubiquiti, you’ll heighten your potential and broaden your horizons - all while shaping the future of connectivity.
Responsibilities
• Lead hardware circuit design, schematic development, and PCB layout review for high-performance datacenter switches (Top-of-Rack, Leaf, and Spine architectures) to ensure robust system performance and manufacturability.
• Evaluate and integrate advanced networking silicon (e.g., Broadcom, Marvell), high-speed interconnects, and Baseboard Management Controllers (BMC).
• Drive design verification, system bring-up, high-speed signal integrity validation, debugging, and root cause analysis, including RMA failure resolution.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical and thermal teams to address high power density and cooling challenges inherent in 1U/2U rackmount data center environments.
• Own BOM management and support production to ensure smooth transition from NPI to mass production for complex, high-layer-count PCBAs.
• Participate across the full product lifecycle from NPI, MP to EOL.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including layout, component engineering, firmware, mechanical, power, thermal, QA, software, PM, ID, and compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in system-level hardware design, specifically for datacenter switches, enterprise core routers, or high-density server/storage networks.
- Deep understanding of high-speed Ethernet technologies, including 100G/400G/800G interfaces (QSFP28, QSFP-DD, OSFP), MAC/PHY protocols, and advanced switching fundamentals.
- Experience with high-speed board design, signal integrity analysis (PAM4, PCIe Gen 5/6, high-speed SerDes), and impedance control.
- Experience in hardware validation, debugging, and failure analysis in production environments.
- Familiarity with datacenter hardware requirements, including hot-swappable redundant power supplies (CRPS), field-replaceable fan modules, and compliance standards (ESD, EMI/EMC, safety).
- Proficiency in hardware design tools such as OrCAD Capture, Cadence Allegro, or Mentor PADS.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) hardware design (e.g., ASPEED AST2500/2600) and related firmware integration.
- Familiarity with Open Compute Project (OCP) networking standards, rack-level power architectures (e.g., 48V DC-DC conversion), or liquid cooling solutions.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams in complex, high-power hardware system development.
