Role Summary
We are looking for a hands-on Senior Hardware Engineer to lead the design and mass production of our battery-powered IoT product lines. This role will drive board-level design, low-power optimization, and EMS/ODM coordination, partner with cross-functional teams on NPI and certification, and help bring our next generation of USL/UC products to market.
Responsibilities (What he/she will do after joining UI)
- Lead the hardware design of battery-powered portable products and IoT lighting / control devices from concept through mass production.
- Define power architecture and conduct battery life estimation for primary lithium (CR series) and rechargeable Li-ion applications.
- Drive low-power optimization through µA-level current measurement, sleep / wake-up strategy design, and power budget planning.
- Design and review PMIC, charger IC, and battery protection circuits to ensure product safety and reliability.
- Integrate wireless connectivity solutions (BLE, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, or Sub-GHz) into product designs, including SI and antenna tuning.
- Lead EMC / ESD debug and bring products through regulatory certification independently.
- Serve as the dedicated technical interface with EMS / ODM partners for NPI, mass production ramp-up, and ongoing yield improvement.
- Partner with firmware, mechanical, QA, and PM teams to deliver products that meet design, schedule, and quality targets.
- Mentor junior engineers and share best practices on low-power design, battery products, and factory-side execution.
Requirement (Must-Haves)
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
- 10–15 years of hands-on hardware design experience in consumer electronics or IoT products.
- Proven experience with battery-powered portable products, including both CR primary discharge and Li-ion applications.
- Solid expertise in low-power design, including µA-level current measurement and battery life estimation.
- Strong proficiency in PMIC, charger IC, and battery protection circuit design.
- Hands-on experience with at least one wireless protocol (BLE, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, or Sub-GHz).
- Hands-on EMC / ESD debug experience, with the ability to lead products through certification independently.
- Practical experience collaborating with EMS / ODM factories, including NPI, mass production, and yield improvement.
- Familiarity with IoT, lighting, or other control-related designs (basic understanding of AC circuits is sufficient).
- Strong cross-functional communication skills with firmware, mechanical, QA, and PM teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
- Experience leading hardware projects end-to-end from concept to mass production as a project lead or technical owner.
- Experience designing and shipping consumer or commercial IoT products at scale.
- Familiarity with smart home, smart building, or security products (e.g., sensors, sirens, smart lighting).
- Proficiency in more than one wireless protocol (e.g., BLE + Wi-Fi, or Zigbee + Thread).
- Experience with motor control or LED driver design.
- Experience with multi-region regulatory certifications (US, EU, etc.).
- Strong English communication for daily collaboration with overseas teams and EMS / ODM partners.
