Role Summary
This is a strategic, high-impact product line ownership role. While a deep understanding of power electronics is foundational, this role extends far beyond traditional circuit design. You will own the technical direction, platform strategy, and lifecycle execution of Ubiquiti's Power Infrastructure portfolio — balancing customer needs, business objectives, and engineering execution. The ideal candidate combines strong power systems expertise with product leadership, systems thinking, and the ability to align cross-functional teams around a unified technical vision.
Responsibilities
- Portfolio Strategy and Product Line Ownership: Own the technical direction and portfolio strategy for Ubiquiti's Power Infrastructure product family, spanning UPS and PDU systems today and expanding toward energy storage, rack power, and smart power management. Evaluate new product opportunities, define platform investment priorities, and drive long-term portfolio expansion across power infrastructure technologies. Take a holistic view of the product lifecycle from conception through mass production, field scaling, and continuous improvement.
- Technical Strategy and Roadmap: Collaborate with Product Management and senior leadership to define the technical strategy and roadmap. Analyze industry trends, emerging technologies, and customer needs — including data center power, AI infrastructure, and smart grid integration — to identify opportunities for innovation and competitive differentiation.
- Technical Requirements and Architecture: Translate business objectives and customer requirements into detailed technical specifications. Lead system architecture decisions across hardware, firmware, battery management, and cloud connectivity. Ensure alignment between power hardware and Ubiquiti's broader software and ecosystem platforms.
- Technical Leadership and Cross-functional Execution: Provide technical leadership across a team of Power HW and FW engineers. Make informed decisions on power conversion topologies, battery system integration, thermal management, and DFM. Resolve complex engineering challenges and unblock teams during development, qualification, and production ramp-up.
- Quality, Compliance, and Manufacturing Readiness: Collaborate with DQA and manufacturing teams to uphold product quality standards and ensure compliance with international safety and environmental regulations, including UL, IEC, CE, and RoHS. Oversee DOE planning, factory qualification, and production readiness reviews.
- Stakeholder Communication and Technical Documentation: Develop comprehensive technical documentation and conduct design reviews throughout the product lifecycle. Communicate product status, risks, and decisions clearly to internal stakeholders and leadership.
Requirement
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
- 10 or more years of experience in power infrastructure, UPS/PDU systems, energy storage, telecom power, data center power, or related industries.
- Proven experience driving product definition, system architecture, or technical solution ownership across hardware, firmware, manufacturing, and compliance teams.
- Strong understanding of power electronics, battery technologies (Lead-Acid, LiFePO4, Li-ion), BMS, and switching power design, including AC/DC and DC/DC conversion.
- Demonstrated ability to translate customer requirements and business objectives into scalable technical solutions.
- Experience leading cross-functional development efforts from concept to mass production.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience owning a product line, platform, or major subsystem throughout its full lifecycle.
- Familiarity with cloud-managed infrastructure products and energy management systems.
- Knowledge of data center power architectures, AI infrastructure power, or renewable energy technologies, including solar and MPPT.
- Experience with high-voltage safety testing, grid connection protocols, and standards such as IEC 62040, UL 1741, and IEEE 1547.
- Experience interacting directly with customers, ODM partners, or executive stakeholders.
- Prior experience in a technical lead, principal engineer, solution architect, or technical PM role that has evolved toward product or platform ownership.
