About the Role

We're looking for technically curious, customer-focused System Verification Engineers to join our System Quality Assurance team. You'll validate and evaluate how UniFi products work together and how customers experience them - from first-time setup to everyday use across devices, web and mobile applications, and cloud services - and your read on that experience helps decide what's ready to ship.

We're looking for someone with good judgment, an eye for detail, and a real understanding of what makes a product intuitive and well designed. You should be able to spot a confusing experience, explain why it's confusing, and work effectively with engineering and design teams around the world to fix it. Along the way, you'll gain hands-on experience with real hardware, run performance experiments, analyze data, and help bring products to market with best-in-class reliability.

Curiosity, clear communication, and a willingness to learn are essential here; automation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Test complete customer workflows across the UniFi ecosystem, including Network, Protect, Access, Connect, UniFi OS, and Site Manager. Check that every product works together and feels consistent to the people using it.
• Evaluate setup, device adoption, navigation, everyday management, and recovery flows through the eyes of both administrators and everyday users.
• Spot confusing layouts, inconsistent interactions, misleading status indicators, and missing feedback, then explain the impact on real users and suggest improvements.
• Help create and run manual test scenarios for new features and existing functionality. Go beyond the written steps to explore unexpected actions and edge cases.
• Set up and use real devices and lab environments to test integrations, updates, permissions, and behavior during connectivity or power interruptions, with guidance from the team.
• Reproduce customer issues and document clear steps, expected and actual behavior, and relevant diagnostic information, picking up new troubleshooting tools as you go.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, QA, and support teams across regions and time zones, sharing clear findings and handoffs, asking focused questions, and following up to keep issues moving.
• Verify fixes, check for related problems, and communicate any remaining issues and their customer impact before every release.

Requirements

• Good product judgment and a solid understanding of UX and design principles - able to explain what makes an interface clear, intuitive, and consistent, and where it's creating unnecessary effort for users.
• Strong attention to detail, including the ability to notice subtle differences in wording, layout, behavior, and feedback across products and platforms.
• A genuine interest in how connected products work as a system, with the ability to think through how a change in one device or application could affect the rest of a customer's workflow.
• Clear written and verbal communication. Able to explain observations precisely, provide useful context, and collaborate respectfully with teammates across different regions and technical backgrounds.
• A logical approach to problem solving: able to reproduce an issue, compare expected and actual results, and distinguish observations from assumptions.
• Curiosity about technology, a willingness to work hands-on with devices and software, and the initiative to ask questions and learn unfamiliar tools.
• Ability to stay organized, take feedback well, and follow through on assigned testing and open issues.
• Familiarity with UniFi or other networking, video surveillance, access control, or smart home products.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts such as Wi-Fi, IP addressing, switching, and internet connectivity.
• Exposure to troubleshooting tools such as browser developer tools, logs, Linux command-line utilities, and Wireshark.
• Experience with Python, JavaScript, and test automation tools.
• Experience with Generative AI and prompt engineering.

This is an entry-level role - we welcome recent graduates and candidates who've built their skills through coursework, personal projects, self-directed learning, or other hands-on experience. Prior QA experience, coding background, and familiarity with UniFi products are a definite plus.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with UniFi or similar connected hardware and software ecosystems through personal use, coursework, or lab projects.
• Familiarity with physical security systems, including IP cameras, video recording, access control, readers, and door controllers.
• Familiarity with IoT and smart home technologies, including Matter, Thread, and Matter over Thread, particularly device setup, connectivity, and interoperability.
• Understanding of NAS and storage concepts, including shared folders, file permissions, RAID, backups, and data recovery.
• Familiarity with troubleshooting tools such as browser developer tools, system logs, Linux command-line utilities, or packet capture tools like Wireshark.
• Understanding of APIs, authentication, and user roles and permissions.
• Exposure to Python, Bash, JavaScript, or test automation tools.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000
